Aluminium Sliding Doors
Aluminium sliding doors are designed for wide glass areas, slim sightlines and smooth access to the garden. We specify the track layout, pane size, colour, locking and threshold details around the opening, so the doors suit the room and the way you use the garden.
Large glass openings
Sliding doors suit wide openings where you want more daylight, uninterrupted views and a clean connection to the outside.
Dual or triple-track layouts
We can help decide whether a dual or triple-track configuration is the right fit for the available space and daily use.
Secure aluminium system
Flush hook-locks, robust frames and modern glazing keep the design practical as well as minimal.
Smooth access to outside
Large sliding panels keep the opening easy to use without needing the swing space of hinged doors.
Specified around thresholds
Survey checks cover drainage, floor levels and access requirements so the finished doors work cleanly with the room and patio.

System
Sheerline Prestige Lift & Slide, on a 106mm frame and sash
This detail is confirmed during survey, with the final choice matched to the property, opening and day-to-day use.
Size
Up to 6.5m wide and 2.5m tall, carrying up to 400kg a sash
This detail is confirmed during survey, with the final choice matched to the property, opening and day-to-day use.
Track detail
Stainless steel tracks in dual or triple track, with drainage built into the threshold
The track layout controls how many panels move, how they stack and how water drains away.
Hardware
Lift and slide action with flush hook-locks set into the interlock, tested to PAS 24
Lift-slide hardware helps larger panels move smoothly while maintaining secure locking when closed.
Underfoot
The threshold is where a slider is won or lost.
A sash on this system can weigh up to 400kg, so what it runs on matters more than anything else on the door. The tracks are stainless steel rather than rolled aluminium, and the lift and slide action takes the weight off the seals before the door moves, which is why a door this size still slides with one hand.
Drainage is built into the threshold instead of being cut in afterwards. There are three threshold heights, and which one suits you depends on the floor build-up inside and the drop outside, so we settle it at survey rather than on the order.
- Stainless steel tracks, in dual or triple track
- Up to 400kg a sash, lifted clear of the seals to move
- Three threshold heights, chosen against your floor at survey
Where the panes meet
The bar down the middle is the one you will look at.
On a slider the interlock is the upright where two panes overlap, and it is the only thing interrupting the view when the door is shut. There are two: 80mm, or 52mm where you want the glass to carry as far as it can. Everything else on the frame is 106mm.
The locks are flush hook-locks set into that upright rather than a handle assembly bolted to the face, which is what keeps the line clean and gets the door through PAS 24. The handle sits flush with the sash for the same reason.
- 80mm or 52mm interlock, on a 106mm frame and sash
- Flush hook-locks, tested to PAS 24
- Up to 6.5m wide and 2.5m tall in one opening
Specification choices

Colour
Twelve standard colours, powder coated in the UK.
Powder coating is baked onto the aluminium rather than painted over it, so it does not flake and it never needs redoing. Anthracite Grey and Jet Black are the two we fit most often, and both sit well against brick and render alike.

You can have a different colour inside and out, and beyond these we can match any RAL colour, confirmed against a sample before your door is ordered. If you have a shade in mind, ask and we will tell you what is possible. Compare colours across every material
Handles
Five finishes on the lift and slide handle.
The lever lifts the sash off its seals before it rolls, so it is geared rather than fixed. Inside gets the lever, outside gets a flush finger cup set into the sash, and the finish is the same on both.

Whether the outside takes a finger cup or a second lever depends on how you use the door, and we settle that with you before it is ordered. See the full handle specification
Product questions
FAQs about Aluminium Sliding Doors
Are aluminium sliding doors different from standard uPVC sliders?
Yes. Aluminium sliding doors use slimmer, stronger aluminium profiles that can support larger glass areas and cleaner sightlines.
Can I choose a dual or triple-track design?
Yes. We can specify dual or triple tracks depending on opening width, pane layout and how much clear opening you want.
Are aluminium sliding doors secure?
Yes. The systems are specified with secure locking, strong frames and glazing options suitable for residential installations.
Can the doors match my window colours?
In most projects, yes. Aluminium frames can be powder coated in a wide range of RAL colours to coordinate with other products.
Will the threshold be checked?
Yes. We check threshold height, drainage, access and floor finishes during survey before the final specification is ordered.
What Milton Keynes homeowners say
Real reviews from real installations. Every one is public, so you can go and check them yourself.
Fenster have just completed a front door installation on my new property - fantastic job and strongly recommend! The online design tool is great, Perry back at HQ is brilliant as is his communication. Andy, who installed the door, is a top gent and professional. Will definitely be a returning customer.
Read on GoogleReally happy with the service we received from Fensters Windows. Aaron and Shane turned up on time and were both really friendly. They explained any issues as they went along and talked us through the different options, which we really appreciated. They did a great job fitting our new back doors and cleaned up everything afterwards. We also paid exactly what we had originally been quoted, with no unexpected extra costs. Really pleased with our new doors and would definitely recommend Fensters Windows. Thank you Aaron and Shane!
Read on GoogleWe have used Fensters for years on a variety of glazing work, and 2 door installations. They are competitively priced and responsive. They take great care over measuring and specifying the work, giving you a clear quote so you understand what you are getting (thanks Perry!). The fitters are all extremely competent and personable. We had to replace our front door for accessibility reasons, they gave us confidence that our requirements would be met, reproduced the intricate leaded and stained-glass pattern of our old door, and did a quality fitting job (thanks to Johnnie and Shane!). In summary they are our go-to suppliers for all replacement and repair work.
Read on GoogleI had an excellent experience with Fenster Glazing from start to finish. Nick Perry and David managed the initial quote to installation process seamlessly, keeping communication clear, honest, and completely stress-free. When it came to the actual fitting, Zac and Shane did a fantastic job with the installation, working efficiently and leaving everything spotless. The professionalism from the entire team was top-notch, and the final result looks brilliant. I highly recommend them.
Read on GoogleGreat service from Fenster Glazing, very happy with our new bi-fold door, glass door and windows (with built-in blinds) There was an issue with the wrong spec of glass provided to them from their supplier, so they had to temporarily board up a door and a window, but this was put right within a few weeks. Recommended, thanks.
Read on Google Zak Jessup 12 Jun 2025Cannot recommend higher! Nick and Perry were really helpful in getting my windows sorted ASAP.
Read on Google Norman Cummings 10 Jun 2025The best service ever, great workmen, very high standard and in the finish, excellent eye to detail.
