Heritage aluminium doors, Wolverton

This Victorian terrace in Wolverton had painted timber doors on two openings at the back. Both are now Sheerline Classic heritage aluminium: French doors to the patio again, and the narrow side path opening turned into a single wide leaf.

Installed

Both leaves open onto the patio, looking back through the kitchen.
Products Heritage aluminium doors
System Sheerline Classic, 1.4 W/m²K
Configuration French doors and a single, both with toplights
Colour Jet Black, with black handles

Two openings at the back of this terrace, both still in painted timber and both French doors. One opens onto the patio, the other onto the side path, and each had a toplight above it.

The patio opening is French doors again, in Sheerline Classic heritage aluminium. The side path is where the layout actually changed. Splitting a narrow opening in two gives you two narrow ways through and no useful one, so that opening is now a single wide leaf in the same brickwork.

Both toplights were kept. That let the new frames sit in the existing openings without losing glass above the door, and it keeps the proportions the back of the house already had.

Both are two bar, so the glazing bars line up across the French doors and the single even though the two openings are different widths. Finished in Jet Black with black handles, against the red brick.

Powder-coated aluminium replaces painted timber on both, so neither needs repainting, and both lock at several points up the frame rather than on a single latch.
