Windows and doors, Sunrise Care Home, Kettering
We replaced all the windows and doors at Sunrise Care Home in Kettering. It is a dementia specific setting, so the specification and the way we worked in the building both had to suit that.
The home was refurbishing while it kept running, and the glazing was part of that. Every existing window and door was replaced to improve thermal performance and security across the building.
A dementia setting changes the brief. Safe opening was specified rather than assumed, and the way our teams worked in the building mattered as much as what we fitted: tools controlled, access controlled, and a calm environment kept for residents who were there the whole time.
The work was phased so the home could carry on operating. That is slower than clearing a floor and working through it, and on an occupied care building it is the only sensible way. See our care home glazing page for how we approach these sites.
