Distinction make the door slab. We specify it as part of a complete doorset, with the frame, glass, threshold and locking chosen for your opening and fitted by our own team.

Made in layers
A high-impact GRP skin, water-resistant polymer sub-frame, engineered timber reinforcement, central board and a CFC-free polyurethane core.
Independently tested
Distinction publish testing to BS 6375-1 for weather performance, with acoustic results of 26 dB OITC and 29 dB STC for the slab.
25-year slab warranty
The manufacturer covers the slab's structure and surface. Glass, hardware and our installation have their own terms and guarantees.

The woodgrain comes from real oak. Beneath it, the slab combines insulation, reinforcement and water-resistant edges.

GRP outer skin
A textured, low-maintenance surface. Clean with warm water and a soft cloth.
Foam-filled core
Polyurethane insulation within the 44.5mm slab helps your entrance hold its heat.
Reinforced structure
Engineered wood stiles and a central board support the slab.
Water-resistant edges
Polymer rails protect the edges of the door through changing weather.

Every door we fit has AI Secure locking, an APECS 3-star cylinder and an ILH Duplex multipoint lock. If either lock component fails in a break-in, you are covered for up to £5,000 in compensation. Terms apply and are confirmed before you order.

The complete doorset

The slab is only part of the door.

A good slab can still make a poor entrance if the frame, glass, threshold or fitting is wrong. We settle the complete specification after measuring the opening.

Warmth
The insulated core reduces heat transfer through the slab. The U-value belongs to the complete doorset, so we confirm it for your chosen frame, glass and threshold.
Weather
The slab has published BS 6375-1 weather testing. Survey and installation still decide how the finished entrance manages seals, drainage and exposure.
Access and layout
Opening direction, hinge side, low thresholds, side panels and the step outside are agreed before manufacture. They cannot be corrected with a different colour or handle later.
Fitting and aftercare
Our team removes the old door, fits and seals the new doorset, checks the lock and leaves you with care guidance and a ten-year insurance-backed installation guarantee.

The most modern end of the range. Wide grooves, bold glass shapes and long bar handles rather than a lever.

The top half opens on its own while the bottom stays shut and locked. Kitchens, utility rooms and anyone with a dog or small children.

Door handles

Eight handle finishes on a long backplate.

The backplate carries the lever and the cylinder aperture together, so the lock and the handle are settled as one decision rather than two. The finish you pick runs through the letterplate, hinges and threshold as well.

How much does a composite door cost fitted?

A checked installation example was £2,000 including VAT: a 900 x 2100mm Distinction Esteem, anthracite grey outside and white inside, with a low aluminium threshold, clear glass and a chrome lever handle. Your price depends on the size, style, glass, hardware and any side panels. Use the quote tool for your specification, or read our composite door price guide. Why do you fit Distinction composite doors?

The 44.5mm slab combines a GRP outer skin, water-resistant polymer edges, engineered wood stiles, a reinforced central board and a foam-filled insulating core. What security comes with the door?

No. Clean the surface with warm water and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, pressure washers and solvents. Painting the door voids the surface warranty, so choose the finish you want when specifying it.

How energy efficient is a composite door?

The foam-filled slab helps insulate the entrance. A U-value applies to the complete doorset, including its frame, glass and threshold, so it depends on the door you choose. Ask us for the performance information for your final specification; one figure would not describe every combination on this page.
