Doors in Milton Keynes
Front doors, back doors and the wide openings onto a garden. The first thing to settle is where it is going and how it needs to open, because that rules most of this list in or out straight away.

The choice that matters
Three ways a door gets out of the way.
For a front or back door there is one sensible answer, and it is hinged. For a garden opening the real question is where the panels go when they are open, because that decides how much of the opening you actually get back and how much room the doors need inside.
-
Hinged
- Door slab
- 44.5mm
- Break-in cover
- Up to £5,000
- Opening
- One or two leaves
Needs the swing space, inside or out. Where security and insulation matter most.
-
Sliding
- Panes
- Up to 4
- Tracks
- Dual or triple
- Swing space
- None
Panels pass each other, so nothing comes into the room and the panes are the largest of the three.
-
Folding
- Panes
- Up to 7
- U-value from
- 1.0 W/m²K
- Opening
- Nearly all of it
Panels stack to one side, so you get nearly the whole opening back. The stack needs a wall to sit against.
Before you ask
The questions we get asked on the phone.
If you want a figure before you speak to anyone: Composite door prices Bifold door costs Patio and French door prices
Which door is the most secure?
The composite carries the most on paper: AI Secure locking, an APECS 3-star cylinder and an ILH Duplex multipoint lock, and if either fails in a break-in you are covered for up to £5,000 in compensation, terms applying. That is not a mark against the rest. Everything we hang is multi-point locked as standard, and the aluminium doors add flush hook-locks on top.
How wide can a garden opening go?
Bifolds run to seven panes and sliding doors to four, on dual or triple tracks. The honest limit is usually the structure above the opening rather than the doors, which is what the survey is for.
Sliding or folding for a garden door?
Folding opens nearly the whole wall, and the panels stack against one side. Sliding keeps the largest single panes and takes up no room at all, and half the opening stays glazed. They are answers to different questions, and which one suits usually comes down to the wall itself, so we would rather look before recommending either.
What does the guarantee cover?
Ten years on a new door installation, and the composite doors carry a separate break-in guarantee on top. Repairs and replacement glass on their own sit outside the ten years.

Fenster have just completed a front door installation on my new property - fantastic job and strongly recommend! The online design tool is great, Perry back at HQ is brilliant as is his communication. Andy, who installed the door, is a top gent and professional. Will definitely be a returning customer.
Read on GoogleReally happy with the service we received from Fensters Windows. Aaron and Shane turned up on time and were both really friendly. They explained any issues as they went along and talked us through the different options, which we really appreciated. They did a great job fitting our new back doors and cleaned up everything afterwards. We also paid exactly what we had originally been quoted, with no unexpected extra costs. Really pleased with our new doors and would definitely recommend Fensters Windows. Thank you Aaron and Shane!
Read on GoogleWe have used Fensters for years on a variety of glazing work, and 2 door installations. They are competitively priced and responsive. They take great care over measuring and specifying the work, giving you a clear quote so you understand what you are getting (thanks Perry!). The fitters are all extremely competent and personable. We had to replace our front door for accessibility reasons, they gave us confidence that our requirements would be met, reproduced the intricate leaded and stained-glass pattern of our old door, and did a quality fitting job (thanks to Johnnie and Shane!). In summary they are our go-to suppliers for all replacement and repair work.
Read on GoogleI had an excellent experience with Fenster Glazing from start to finish. Nick Perry and David managed the initial quote to installation process seamlessly, keeping communication clear, honest, and completely stress-free. When it came to the actual fitting, Zac and Shane did a fantastic job with the installation, working efficiently and leaving everything spotless. The professionalism from the entire team was top-notch, and the final result looks brilliant. I highly recommend them.
Read on GoogleGreat service from Fenster Glazing, very happy with our new bi-fold door, glass door and windows (with built-in blinds) There was an issue with the wrong spec of glass provided to them from their supplier, so they had to temporarily board up a door and a window, but this was put right within a few weeks. Recommended, thanks.
