Roof glazing, blinds, roofline and repairs

Roof glazing, blinds sealed inside the glass, the boards around the roof edge, and the smaller jobs. Some of this we do on its own, and some of it makes sense to do while the scaffolding is already up.

Most of these are smaller jobs than people expect.

A misted window does not mean new windows, and a cold room does not always mean the frames are at fault. It is worth working out which of these three you actually have before anyone quotes you for a whole house.

Before you ask

The questions we get asked on the phone.

If you want a figure before you speak to anyone: Window and door prices Double glazing costs

My windows are misted. Do I need new windows?

Usually not. A misted pane means the seal on that unit has failed, not that the frame has. If the frames are sound we change the glass and leave everything else alone.

Do you work on windows you did not fit?

Yes. Handles, hinges, locks and replacement glass on installations that were never ours are a normal part of the week.

Will secondary glazing help with traffic noise?

It is the better answer than new windows where the existing frontage has to stay, because the gap between the two panes is doing the work. On a listed elevation it is often the only answer.

Roof lantern or flat rooflight?

A lantern stands proud of the roof and throws light further into the room. A flat rooflight sits close to the roof line, which suits a low extension or anywhere a lantern would look too tall from the garden.
