Bifold door hinge and running gear, Hockliffe

A bifold lives on its hinges and its rollers. When one hinge wears, the leaf sits lower than it should, the gap at the meeting stile closes up, and the whole set starts to bind on the way round.

Repaired

The replacement hinge on the frame, fitted and adjusted.
Job Bifold hinge and running gear
Door Anthracite aluminium bifold
Fitted Replacement hinge, matched
Also done Carriage and track checked

The hinge that came off is in one of the photographs, on its own on the carpet. A bifold hinge is a substantial piece of gear, adjustable in two directions, and it carries a door leaf that is mostly glass. It was replaced like for like, in black to match the rest of the set, on the fixings already in the frame.

The bottom of a bifold matters as much as the top. The carriage runs in the threshold track, and grit in that track wears rollers and pulls a set out of line, so the track was cleared and the running gear checked before the doors were reset and run round on it.

Nothing was replaced that did not need replacing. The doors, the glass and the frame are the ones that were there; what changed is the hardware they hang and roll on.
