uPVC Doors
A uPVC door is not one thing. The same Liniar system makes a single front or back door, French doors that open from the centre, or a stable door split across the middle so the top half opens on its own. Which one suits you is usually decided by the opening and how the room is used.

How it opens
One door, or a pair.
That is the choice underneath everything else, and it is decided by the opening and how the room gets used.
A single door
The everyday one. Front, back, side or utility, hinged on the side that keeps the path clear.
French doors
Two doors opening from the centre onto a garden. One is used day to day and the second unbolts when you want the whole opening.
More on French doorsMade to the opening
Made for the opening it goes into, whatever shape or size that is.
The door, the frame, the threshold and the glass are all specified for your house. A plain white back door is the one we fit most, and it is made the same way as the arched one here: to the hole in your wall, whatever shape that hole is in.
The door can be split across the middle too, so the top half opens on its own and the bottom stays shut. That is a stable door, and it is the same door underneath.
What else you choose
Everything you can see is a decision.
The style
Transoms and mullions divide the door, and every opening they make takes glass or a panel, flat or shiplap. The designer opens on a set of styles and none of them is fixed.
Bars and lead
Georgian bars set inside the unit, astragal bars applied to the face so they throw a real shadow, or leaded work in squares or diamonds. On an older house it is what ties the door to the windows either side of it.
The fittings
A letterplate, a knocker, numerals, a spyhole: all chosen with the door. A cat flap goes in too, though it is cut on site once the door is hung rather than arriving in it.
2,288
13 finishes against 22 glasses and 8 handle finishes, and that is before the style, which is drawn rather than picked. Yours gets specified out of all of it.
Colour
Thirteen foils, bonded on rather than painted on.
The foil is bonded to the profile at the factory rather than painted on afterwards, which is why the woodgrains have a grain you can feel and why none of them need repainting. The colour you choose is the outside face, with the same colour or smooth white inside.

Door handles
Eight handle finishes on a long backplate.
The backplate carries the lever and the cylinder aperture together, so the lock and the handle are settled as one decision rather than two. The finish you pick runs through the letterplate, hinges and threshold as well.

Specification choices
Privacy where the door needs it.
A front door onto a street, a side entrance, anything overlooked. Privacy glass goes into the same sealed unit, graded one to five for how much it hides.
The working parts
The threshold and the lock.
Two things you meet every day and choose once. Both are settled before the door is made.
The threshold you step over.
The strip under the door decides whether you trip on it, whether a wheelchair or a pushchair gets through, and how much weather sits against it. Which one you get turns on your floor levels inside and out, so it is settled at survey, and we aim for the low aluminium wherever those levels allow it.
The seal is Liniar's patented bubble gasket, which is the part you feel in January rather than read on a data sheet: it squashes to the shape of the gap rather than relying on the door shutting in exactly the same place every time.
Sections drawn by Liniar, whose profile this is.
The lock, and the two upgrades worth asking for.
A multi-point mechanism throws hooks or bolts into the frame at several points up the door, rather than one latch in the middle. That is standard on every door we fit.
The cylinder that comes with it is a one star. A three star cylinder is the first upgrade worth asking for: it is the part that resists snapping, and it is the cheapest thing on the whole door to improve.
Laminated glass is the second. It has a plastic interlayer bonded between two panes, so when it breaks it holds together rather than clearing the opening, the same way a car windscreen does. Worth asking about on a front door, or anything reachable from a quiet side path.
Liniar test the system to PAS 24, it is a Secured by Design product, and the profile carries a BSI Kitemark to BS EN 12608-1. Those are their figures for the profile, not a certificate for a particular door, so ask us what a specific doorset is built to.

Product questions
FAQs about uPVC Doors
What configurations do uPVC doors come in?
A single door for a front, back or side entrance; French doors that open from the centre for a wider opening; or a stable door split across the middle, so the top half can open on its own. The style is drawn on top of whichever you pick: transoms and mullions divide the door, and each opening they make is filled with glass or with a panel.
Are uPVC doors good for front doors?
Yes. Front, rear, side or utility, all on the same system, with the style drawn to suit the opening and the multi-point locking that comes as standard.
How secure are uPVC doors?
Every door we fit has a multi-point mechanism as standard, throwing hooks or bolts into the frame at several points up the door. The cylinder that comes with it is a one star, and a three star cylinder is an upgrade worth asking for, because it is the part that resists snapping.
Can uPVC doors be coloured?
Thirteen foils, bonded to the profile at the factory rather than painted on. Most carry a woodgrain you can feel and a few are smooth. The colour is the outside face and inside is white as standard, or the same colour on both faces if you prefer.
Will a uPVC door be made to measure?
Yes. We check the opening, threshold, frame, hardware and access requirements before manufacture.
Order process
A clear process from first quote to aftercare.
Four steps. The first one has two ways in: price it yourself online, or have us come out. After that it runs the same either way.
Your price
Price it yourself on the online tool, or book a free consultation and we build the same quote with you. Both run on the same price list, so the figure matches.
Technical survey
Once you go ahead we survey before anything is made. Not a second sales visit: the measurements, thresholds and fixings the factory needs to build it right.
Installation
Fitted by our own installers rather than subcontractors, trained on the systems we sell and working carefully in a house someone lives in. We clear up after ourselves before we leave.
Aftercare
A ten year insurance-backed guarantee through the CPA on new windows and doors, and your FENSA certificate sent direct. Anything afterwards, you ring us, not a call centre.
What Milton Keynes homeowners say
Real reviews from real installations. Every one is public, so you can go and check them yourself.
Fenster have just completed a front door installation on my new property - fantastic job and strongly recommend! The online design tool is great, Perry back at HQ is brilliant as is his communication. Andy, who installed the door, is a top gent and professional. Will definitely be a returning customer.
Read on GoogleReally happy with the service we received from Fensters Windows. Aaron and Shane turned up on time and were both really friendly. They explained any issues as they went along and talked us through the different options, which we really appreciated. They did a great job fitting our new back doors and cleaned up everything afterwards. We also paid exactly what we had originally been quoted, with no unexpected extra costs. Really pleased with our new doors and would definitely recommend Fensters Windows. Thank you Aaron and Shane!
Read on GoogleWe have used Fensters for years on a variety of glazing work, and 2 door installations. They are competitively priced and responsive. They take great care over measuring and specifying the work, giving you a clear quote so you understand what you are getting (thanks Perry!). The fitters are all extremely competent and personable. We had to replace our front door for accessibility reasons, they gave us confidence that our requirements would be met, reproduced the intricate leaded and stained-glass pattern of our old door, and did a quality fitting job (thanks to Johnnie and Shane!). In summary they are our go-to suppliers for all replacement and repair work.
Read on GoogleI had an excellent experience with Fenster Glazing from start to finish. Nick Perry and David managed the initial quote to installation process seamlessly, keeping communication clear, honest, and completely stress-free. When it came to the actual fitting, Zac and Shane did a fantastic job with the installation, working efficiently and leaving everything spotless. The professionalism from the entire team was top-notch, and the final result looks brilliant. I highly recommend them.
Read on GoogleGreat service from Fenster Glazing, very happy with our new bi-fold door, glass door and windows (with built-in blinds) There was an issue with the wrong spec of glass provided to them from their supplier, so they had to temporarily board up a door and a window, but this was put right within a few weeks. Recommended, thanks.
Read on Google Zak Jessup 12 Jun 2025Cannot recommend higher! Nick and Perry were really helpful in getting my windows sorted ASAP.
Read on Google Norman Cummings 10 Jun 2025The best service ever, great workmen, very high standard and in the finish, excellent eye to detail.
