Bedford homes, and what to check first.
The homes. Bedford has streets of Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas close to the centre and the river, interwar semis beyond them, and large post-war and modern estates around the edge.
What that means. The Victorian and Edwardian streets often suit sash and flush casement styles, and many have bays that need proper support. The post-war estates are usually straight replacements.
Check first. Bedford has several conservation areas around the centre. In an older street, check whether your house is in one before changing the style or material.

Buying composite doors in Bedford.
Product choices, pricing and what happens before we fit.
Can I design and price my composite door online?
Yes. Our online tool lets you choose a door style, colour, glass and furniture and build a price. A free consultation uses the same software and price list, with colour swatches brought to your home.
How do I get a price for composite doors?
Build your price online using approximate sizes, or book a free consultation and we price the job with you. Both use the same software and price list. Once you decide to go ahead, a technical survey confirms the measurements and fitting details before anything is made.
Do you supply and fit in Bedford?
Yes. We cover Bedford and its MK40, MK41 and MK42 postcodes from our Milton Keynes base, and everyone who surveys and fits works for us. Nearby, we also fit composite doors in Ampthill, Flitwick and Newport Pagnell.
Do I need permission to replace doors in Bedford?
Bedford is covered by Bedford Borough Council. Like-for-like replacements are usually permitted development, but the town has several conservation areas and many listed buildings, where changes can need permission.

Really happy with the service we received from Fensters Windows. Aaron and Shane turned up on time and were both really friendly. They explained any issues as they went along and talked us through the different options, which we really appreciated. They did a great job fitting our new back doors and cleaned up everything afterwards. We also paid exactly what we had originally been quoted, with no unexpected extra costs. Really pleased with our new doors and would definitely recommend Fensters Windows. Thank you Aaron and Shane!
